The Power of Justice — Allah Is Always Fair

All praise is due to Allah, the Most Just, the One whose judgments are perfect, whose knowledge is complete, and whose justice never fails. We glorify Him, thank Him, and trust Him completely. We bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad ﷺ is His servant and final Messenger.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Justice is something we all long for. Whether it’s fairness in school, honesty in relationships, or truth in the world — we crave justice. But in this world, justice is not always delivered. People lie. The innocent suffer. The guilty escape. But know this: Allah never fails in justice.

He is Al-‘AdlThe Most Just.
He is Al-HakamThe Perfect Judge.
He is Al-BaseerThe All-Seeing.

No one is more just than Allah. No one is more fair than your Lord.

Allah’s Justice Is Complete

Every decision Allah makes is based on perfect knowledge, perfect wisdom, and perfect timing. Nothing escapes Him — no word, no action, not even a whisper in your heart.

“Indeed, Allah does not wrong the people at all, but it is the people who wrong themselves.”
(Surah Yunus 10:44)

When bad things happen, it’s not because Allah is unjust. Rather, people choose to sin. Or it is a test. Or it is purification. Or a step toward a better ending that only Allah knows.

But injustice? That is not from Allah.

The Day of Judgment: Perfect Justice

Some wrongs in this life never get fixed. Some people die without apology. Some liars succeed. Some victims stay unheard.

But none of it is forgotten.

“And We will set up the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all.”
(Surah Al-Anbiyaa 21:47)

On the Day of Judgment, every word, action, and intention will be weighed. No bribes, no lies, no hiding.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The rights shall be given to those entitled to them, and even the hornless sheep will be given justice against the horned one that butted it.”
(Muslim)

Even animals will receive justice. So imagine how complete justice will be for human beings.

The Prophet ﷺ Was a Model of Justice

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the best of creation, lived by the principle of fairness. He said:

“By Allah, if Fatima the daughter of Muhammad stole, I would cut off her hand.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

He would never show favoritism, not even for his own daughter — because he lived by the justice that Allah commanded.

We are taught to be just in our dealings, our words, our judgments — even when it’s against ourselves or our loved ones.

“O you who believe, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or your parents or relatives…”
(Surah An-Nisa 4:135)

When Justice Is Delayed, Trust Allah’s Timing

Sometimes we wonder: “Why hasn’t Allah punished the wrongdoers?”
But Allah’s delay is not injustice — it is wisdom and a test.

“And do not think Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror].”
(Surah Ibrahim 14:42)

Their time will come — either in this world or in the next. And for the one who suffers patiently, the reward is immense.

Justice Starts with Us

Allah is Just — and He commands us to be just too:

  • Be fair in your business and schoolwork.
  • Don’t lie, cheat, or gossip.
  • Don’t judge others unfairly.
  • Stand up for what’s right — even when it’s hard.

“Indeed, Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives, and forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression…”
(Surah An-Nahl 16:90)

This ayah is so important that it’s recited in every Jumu‘ah khutbah — a weekly reminder to uphold justice in all we do.

Trust in Allah’s Justice Brings Peace

When someone wrongs you, forgive — not because they deserve it, but because you trust Allah will bring justice.

When you lose something unfairly, be patient — because Allah will return it or give better.

When you feel unseen or unheard, know that Allah sees, hears, and records everything.

“So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.”
(Surah Az-Zalzalah 99:7–8)

Nothing is lost. Nothing is missed. Everything is recorded — and Allah will deal with it all, perfectly.

Conclusion: Walk with Justice, Live with Peace

Dear brothers and sisters,

When life seems unfair, remember the One who is never unfair.
When justice feels far away, turn to the One who brings it closer.
When you feel wronged, know that Allah is your Defender.

“And sufficient is Allah as a disposer of affairs.”
(Surah An-Nisa 4:81)

So be just. Teach justice. Live by justice. And trust that Allah, the Most Just, will bring every truth to light, every wrong to account, and every soul to perfect reward.

May Allah make us lovers of justice, doers of justice, and people who will stand in light on the Day when the just will be honored. Ameen.
