The Power of Guidance — Allah Shows the Right Way
All praise is due to Allah, the One who brings hearts from darkness into light, the One who guides whom He wills, and whose guidance is the greatest gift in all of existence. We praise Him, we seek His help, and we ask for His light in our lives. We bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad ﷺ is His servant and final Messenger.
Dear brothers and sisters,
In this life full of confusion, noise, and endless paths, people chase success, happiness, and truth. But many become lost — not because the path is missing, but because they don’t know where to look.
Guidance is the greatest blessing. It is not wealth, not health, not fame — but to know your Lord, follow His way, and live with purpose. That is real success.
And guidance comes only from one source: Allah — Al-Haadi, The One Who Guides.
“Indeed, [O Prophet], you do not guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills.”
(Surah Al-Qasas 28:56)
The First Thing We Ask for — Is Guidance
Every day, at least 17 times in our prayers, we say:
“Guide us to the straight path”
(Surah Al-Fatiha 1:6)
Think about that. Every rak‘ah. Every prayer. Every day. Why?
Because guidance is not a one-time gift. It’s something we need constantly — like food for the soul, or light in darkness.
We ask for it again and again, because without it, we are blind — no matter how much we see with our eyes.
What Is Guidance?
Guidance means knowing:
- Who your Lord is
- Why you were created
- What path to walk in life
- What to avoid to protect your soul
- Where you are going after this world
Allah says:
“Say, ‘Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance.’”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:120)
That means no book, no scholar, no trend, no ideology — nothing can guide us unless it comes from Allah or is built upon His light.
The Prophet ﷺ Was a Guide
Allah says to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:
“And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path.”
(Surah Ash-Shura 42:52)
Our beloved Messenger ﷺ was not just a man — he was a guide, a light, a living Quran. His life shows us what it means to walk in the path of Allah, with love, mercy, truth, and firmness.
He brought light to a world of ignorance, unity to a world of division, and purpose to a world lost in worshiping idols and desires.
Following his sunnah is how we walk in the light of guidance today.
The Qur’an — A Guidebook for Life
Allah sent us the Qur’an, not just to be recited, but to be followed.
“This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:2)
Every verse is light. Every chapter is direction. Every ayah has a wisdom, a warning, a reminder.
If you feel lost — go back to the Qur’an.
If your heart is heavy — go back to the Qur’an.
If you need answers — go back to the Qur’an.
Allah’s Guidance Is for Those Who Seek It
Allah does not force anyone. But He guides those who want truth, who are humble, and who open their hearts.
“And Allah increases those who are guided, in guidance.”
(Surah Maryam 19:76)
That means: if you walk toward Allah, He will run toward you. If you sincerely want the right path, Allah will open it for you — from ways you never imagined.
Signs You Are Being Guided
Here are signs that Allah is guiding you:
- You love to pray — even when it’s hard.
- You feel regret after sin — and want to return.
- You enjoy learning about your deen.
- You love to be with good company.
- You feel uncomfortable in sinful places.
- You feel peace when you remember Allah.
These are all signs of a heart being guided. Treasure them.

What Blocks Guidance?
Some people turn away from guidance because of:
- Pride — “I don’t need religion.”
- Ego — “Why should I obey anyone?”
- Desires — “I just want to do what feels good.”
- Arrogance — “I know better than scripture.”
But Allah warns:
“I will turn away from My signs those who are arrogant upon the earth without right…”
(Surah Al-A‘raf 7:146)
Humility is the key to receiving Allah’s light. The one who lowers themselves before their Creator will be raised by Him.
Guidance Is the Greatest Dua
The Prophet ﷺ used to say:
“O Allah, turn my heart toward Your obedience.”
(Muslim)
And he would often say:
“O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.”
Even he, the best of creation, feared losing guidance. So we too must always make dua, always ask Allah to keep us firm, and never take guidance for granted.
Conclusion: Walk in Allah’s Light
Dear brothers and sisters,
In a world where so many paths pull you left and right, walk straight. Follow the path of Allah. Follow the Qur’an. Follow the Prophet ﷺ. That is the path of peace, success, and eternal happiness.
“So whoever Allah wants to guide — He opens his heart to Islam…”
(Surah Al-An‘am 6:125)
May Allah keep our hearts guided, our feet firm, our eyes clear, and our love for Him always growing.
May He guide our families, our children, and our communities.
And may He raise us among those who were guided and guiding others, under His shade, on the Day there is no shade but His. Ameen.
