The Power of Control — Nothing Happens Without Allah’s Will
All praise is due to Allah, the Sovereign, the One in complete control of every atom, every soul, every moment in time. We glorify Him, trust in Him, and submit to His perfect wisdom. We bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad ﷺ is His final Messenger and servant.
Dear brothers and sisters,
In a world full of chaos, uncertainty, and anxiety, it brings deep peace to remember this one truth: Allah is in complete control.
He is Al-Malik — The King.
He is Al-Qadeer — The All-Powerful.
He is Al-Muhaymin — The Controller, the Watcher over all things.
“To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He gives to whom He wills [female children], and He gives to whom He wills [male children].”
(Surah Ash-Shura 42:49)
Nothing escapes His knowledge. Nothing challenges His power. And nothing happens — good or bad — without His permission.
Nothing Moves Without His Command
From the falling of a leaf, to the spinning of galaxies, from the beating of your heart to the blinking of your eye — it all happens because Allah wills it.
“And no disaster strikes except by permission of Allah.”
(Surah At-Taghabun 64:11)
We are not living in a random universe. We are living in a creation that is governed with absolute control. Every delay, every test, every gift — is part of His perfect plan.
Why Does This Matter to Us?
Because when we know that Allah is in control, we stop panicking. We stop blaming ourselves endlessly. We stop fearing the future.
We begin to:
- Trust in His plan
- Accept His decree
- Surrender to His wisdom
“Say, ‘Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector.’ And upon Allah let the believers rely.”
(Surah At-Tawbah 9:51)
Qadar (Divine Decree) — A Pillar of Faith
Belief in Qadar is one of the six pillars of Iman. We believe that:
- Allah knows everything before it happens.
- He has written everything in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz).
- Nothing happens except by His will.
- He created everything and its outcomes.
This belief doesn’t make us passive — it makes us peaceful and responsible. We still act, plan, and make choices. But we know the outcome lies with Him.
The Prophet ﷺ and Trust in Allah’s Control
During the darkest times, the Prophet ﷺ never lost faith in Allah’s control.
When he was alone in the cave during hijrah, with enemies right outside, Abu Bakr (RA) was afraid. But what did the Prophet ﷺ say?
“Do not be sad. Indeed, Allah is with us.”
(Surah At-Tawbah 9:40)
This is tawakkul (trust in Allah): to do your part, but rest your heart in Allah’s hands.

Even the Tests Are Controlled by Allah
We all go through pain, confusion, or loss. But remember:
“Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:286)
If you’re facing a test — it’s not random. Allah chose it for you, knowing you could handle it and grow from it.
Even when you lose something — it was never meant to stay. Even when a door closes — it was never your door. That is the wisdom of Al-Hakeem.
Allah Is in Control — But We Are Accountable
Some people ask: “If Allah controls everything, then what about my choices?”
The answer is: Allah gave us free will within His knowledge and control.
You choose — and Allah already knows what you’ll choose. You walk — and He gives you the strength to walk. You decide — and He decrees what is best.
So we are not puppets — but servants who are tested in what we choose.
Let Go and Let Allah
Sometimes, we try to control too much. We stress about the future, we regret the past, we fear what people might do. But we are not in charge — and we were never meant to be.
“And whoever relies upon Allah — then He is sufficient for him.”
(Surah At-Talaq 65:3)
This verse is a cure for the anxious heart. Repeat it when you feel overwhelmed. Allah is enough. He is in control — and He never fails.
Power Belongs Only to Allah
People may seem powerful — kings, presidents, companies — but real power belongs only to Allah.
“Say, ‘O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take it away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things competent.’”
(Surah Aal-Imran 3:26)
So never fear people. Fear Allah alone. And never think anyone can harm you unless Allah has written it.
Conclusion: Rest in the Hands of the Almighty
Dear brothers and sisters,
Your life is not out of control — it’s in the control of the Most Powerful, the Most Loving, the Most Wise.
Let your heart rest in this truth:
- Nothing happens by chance.
- Nothing escapes His plan.
- Everything is written — with mercy, wisdom, and purpose.
When you pray, pray with certainty.
When you fall, rise with hope.
When things don’t go your way — remember, they are going Allah’s way.
May Allah strengthen our trust in Him, help us submit to His decree, and allow us to find peace in His control — in this world and the next.
Ameen.
