The Power of Love — Allah Loves the Believers

All praise is due to Allah, the Most Loving, the One whose mercy wraps around His creation, whose love reaches every heart that turns toward Him. We glorify Him, we thank Him, and we seek closeness to Him. We bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad ﷺ is His beloved and final Messenger.

Dear brothers and sisters,

In a world filled with rejection, loneliness, and the need to be accepted, know this: the most valuable love you can ever receive is the love of Allah. It is a love that never fails, never ends, and never turns away from those who sincerely seek Him.

Allah is Al-WadūdThe Most Loving.

“Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds — the Most Merciful will appoint for them love.”
(Surah Maryam 19:96)

When Allah loves you, He places love for you in the hearts of others. He protects you, forgives you, and elevates you. That is the power of divine love.

How Do We Know Allah Loves?

Some people think of Allah only as powerful or strict, but they forget that Allah is also loving. His love is not like human love — it is pure, infinite, and perfect.

“And He is the Forgiving, the Loving.”
(Surah Al-Buruj 85:14)

The Prophet ﷺ told us:

“When Allah loves a servant, He calls Jibreel and says: ‘I love so-and-so, so love him.’ So Jibreel loves him, then calls out to the inhabitants of the heavens: ‘Allah loves so-and-so, so love him.’ Then acceptance is placed for him on Earth.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

Can you imagine? Your name mentioned by Allah to the angels — because of His love for you?

Who Does Allah Love?

Allah tells us clearly in the Qur’an who He loves:

  • Those who repent: “Indeed, Allah loves those who repent…” (2:222)
  • Those who purify themselves: “…and those who purify themselves.” (2:222)
  • Those who do good: “Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.” (3:134)
  • Those who rely on Him: “Indeed, Allah loves those who rely upon Him.” (3:159)
  • Those who are patient: “And Allah loves the steadfast.” (3:146)

These are not complicated things — they are actions of the heart. Allah doesn’t look at wealth or status, but at your sincerity and effort.

The Prophet ﷺ and Allah’s Love

Our beloved Prophet ﷺ was the most beloved to Allah. His entire life was a journey of seeking and showing divine love. His gentleness, mercy, humility, and tears in prayer were signs of that deep connection.

He once spent the whole night praying and reciting one ayah repeatedly:

“If You punish them, they are Your servants; and if You forgive them, You are the Almighty, the Wise.”
(Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:118)

Aisha (RA) asked him, “Why do you cry when Allah has forgiven you?”
He replied:

“Should I not be a grateful servant?”

That is love: to worship not out of fear or duty alone, but out of deep affection for the One who loves you beyond measure.

Signs That Allah Loves You

Here are a few signs that Allah may love a person:

  • You are consistent in prayer, even when it’s hard.
  • You feel peace when remembering Him.
  • You repent quickly when you slip.
  • You are tested — and remain patient.
  • You love to help others, for His sake.
  • You love the Qur’an, the Prophet ﷺ, and being near to Allah.

“When Allah loves a servant, He tests him…”
(Tirmidhi)

Even hardship can be a sign of love — because it brings you closer to Allah, cleanses you, and strengthens you.

How Can I Earn Allah’s Love?

Here are practical ways to grow in Allah’s love:

  1. Follow the Prophet ﷺ: “Say, [O Muhammad], ‘If you love Allah, then follow me; so Allah will love you and forgive your sins.’”
    (Surah Aal Imran 3:31)
  2. Read and reflect on the Qur’an.
It’s a letter of love from Allah to your heart.
  3. Pray with presence, not just habit.
    Stand before Him with longing.
  4. Remember Him often.
Dhikr polishes the heart and connects you to His mercy.
  5. Love others for His sake.
When you love what Allah loves, He loves you more.

Allah’s Love Is Greater Than All

The Prophet ﷺ once saw a mother running to her lost baby, hugging and feeding him with love. He said to the companions:

“Do you think this woman would throw her child into fire?”
They said, “No, O Messenger of Allah.”
He said:
“Allah is more merciful to His servants than this mother to her child.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

SubhanAllah! If a mother’s love is so powerful — imagine the love of the One who created mothers, mercy, and every drop of compassion in this world.

Conclusion: Seek the Love That Lasts Forever

Dear brothers and sisters,

This world is full of temporary love — love that ends, changes, or hurts. But Allah’s love is eternal, healing, and rewarding.

Let us not chase the love of people at the cost of losing the love of our Lord.

“O Allah, I ask You for Your love, the love of those who love You, and the love of actions that bring me closer to Your love.”
(Hadith – Tirmidhi)

May Allah make us among those whom He loves, who love Him, and who are reunited with Him in the highest levels of Paradise — Ameen.
